Reaction to reading 1: Critical thinking: The Soul of Communication
My reaction:
Communication is often neglected by leaders of the workforce. Most leaders are fixed with a business mindset which is to make money and communication is not seen as a factor in profit-making.
Critical thinking helps to build one up for effective communication. It is essential to have a clear thought process. I believe that in business terms it means to have a mission and vision statement of the company. It leads the company in the desired direction.
As a future leader of the workplace, I need to be well-equipped with critical thinking skills to help to create a reasonable thought process with clarity. It is the fundamental and foundation of communication. However, being satisfied with just critical thinking skills is simply not enough. Critical thinking is the first step to good communication, it is not merely having just the thought process.
To conclude, critical thinking is certainly a skill not to be overlooked by leaders. Enough emphasis on communication is necessary such as conducting training or workshops on critical thinking for employees and management positions. Critical thinking is literally the ‘soul of communication’.
